Macbeth Act 2 Scene 2 Summary

Macbeth Act 2 Scene 2 is just a scene with Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. It is the scene taking place after Macbeth kills Duncan. Previously, they have come up with a plan, but now the plan has taken place. Macbeth comes out dragging Duncan’s body, after Lady Macbeth says that she is worried the servants woke up and the murder didn’t take place. Macbeth talks about the servants saying amen, and how he couldn’t say it back. This is when we see how guilty he is. He feels like he can’t talk to God after the terrible thing he has done. Lady Macbeth has no regrets, saying that its silly for Macbeth not to say amen. She says that they cannot think about what they have done, or they will go mad. Macbeth then talks about sleep, saying he won’t be able to sleep now this is on his mind. From all of this you can obviously see how guilty he is. Lady Macbeth does not care at all. She says

‘My hands are of your color, but I shame to wear a heart so white’

This is after Macbeth talks about washing the blood off his hands in the ocean. This whole scene you can still see how ambitious Lady Macbeth is and how Macbeth already regrets what he did.
